Bus service in Pottstown and adjacent communities is a publicly owned and privately operated system. The Borough of Pottstown owns, funds and administers the system. The day-to-day operations are the responsibility of Pottstown Area Rapid Transit, Inc. (PART).
Riders have a number of ways to pay their fare when boarding the bus.
Senior Citizens, 65 years or older, ride free all day Monday through Saturday. The half-fare arrangement for disabled riders is restricted during off-peak hours of 7:00 am – 8:00 am and 4:30 pm – 5:30 pm. Senior Citizens and half-fare riders can obtain their passes at Borough Hall, 100 E. High Street, 3rd floor, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm.
Two children under fare box height can ride free with one full fare paying adult.
Transfers can be used by PART bus riders to make a trip that requires the use of two bus routes. Transfers should be purchased when paying your fare. Transfers are issued for continuing one-way travel and are limited to one per trip. Transfers can be made at High and Hanover Streets in downtown Pottstown and North End Shopping Center.
PART and SEPTA have entered into a cooperative agreement in which each bus system will accept the transfers of the other.
PART does not operate on Sunday or on major holidays: New Years Day, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
In addition to operating five bus routes, a special curb-to-curb service is offered for those persons who have a disability and are unable to ride the bus. Call PART at (610) 326-5413 for information on how to become eligible and use this service.
